I was playing at Cake poker with 3200 chips. I had a 8,4 of spades in 1st position and called 200 wth 4 other players. The flop turned up 2 more spades, 4 players checked, the 5th raised 600. I called 600, the other checkers folded. The turn was the Ace of spades, I checked again and the other player raised 1200, so I called again. The river was another suite not a spade, I checked again and he raised me all in, so I called and won the hand. He then proceeded to tell me that I had garbage and should have never called. He said, that is what bothers him about internet players, they don't know how to play, they play garbage.
Did I play this hand wrong?????
I believe, In poker, the best hand wins, not the wishing that you had it!
You hit the flush on the turn with a 600 dollar call. He then went all in, His own stupidity he lost. Don't let the table talk get you hun Most generally its to put you on tilt anyway, he was just pft he lost. If you can and your bothered by it turn it off to ensure your game and not your temper. You played correctly as far as I'm concerned
in first position you should be folding pretty much everything except premiums, bad preflop play. your not getting odds on your flush draw on the flop but i dont mind the call because of implied odds (look into odds and implied odds, it will improve your game). on the turn uve already invested 2000 of your 3200 chips and therefore are pot committed, your not folding to any raise on the river even if it comes another spade to show a 4 flush board. might as well stick it in here as to not make a donkey call on the river if it pairs the board.
FOLD PREFLOP, RERAISE TURN... bad play that worked out.
and your quote of "I believe, In poker, the best hand wins, not the wishing that you had it!" is incorrect. in poker the player who has the best statistical advantage comes out on top... in the long run. playing 8 4 in the long run in first position will make u lose more often than win.
things to consider: what if someone raises after youve limped in, do you still call or have u wasted 1 of your 16 big blinds left?
what cards do u put him on by the way it was played (limp pot, raise the flop, raise the turn), in my head without knowing the board i have to assume he hit two pair, bottom two or top and bottom on the flop (it was limped so he could have any two, you also didnt specify his position so its harder to narrow down the possible hands he could have by the way the hand played out. late position he could have more hands, he probably has anything from 9 10, 10 j, 10 Q, 10 K, JQ, A 2-8, or low pocket pair. the more reasons for making a certain play the better. good luck
