Apart from offering the best casino bonus you could hope to find in poker, one of the widest selections of games, and the most celebrity endorsements, PokerStars also has the biggest reach in the industry. This was proven last week when Estonia granted the company license to operate (limited; online play is still restricted at the moment).

Estonia was slow to come around, and the Tax and Customs Board was hard-pressed on stopping its citizens from accessing foreign poker sites, but the country’s new outlook on online gambling sees more opportunity than trouble.

It’s not as if Estonia was a puritan society when involving gambling. Quite the contrary; Estonia hosts many poker tournaments via cities like Tallinn, and even has a few live casinos. But online poker was a horse of a different color. The application process alone was too daunting for other companies.
PokerStars, however, an Isle of Man-based company, was used to dealing with the road blocks and jumped at the opportunity to file for acceptance in Estonia’s unpredictable political climate.

The company hit the ground running once accepted. They immediately set up an EPT stop, and they’ve been big contributors to the local sports culture in the country – sponsoring the Estonian National Volleyball team.

It’s not a sure thing yet for PokerStars, as they don’t have an official operating license for online gambling, but things are looking up for both the poker conglomerate and Estonian gamblers itching to play some Hold’em.
